Tasty Citrus Lemon Lime Bars

Citrus is winter’s natural treat and lemon just happens to be one of my favorite flavors! You will love these easy to make irresistible lemon-lime bars with a heavenly dusting of powdered sugar. These bars have just the right amount os sweet to sour ratio to make the perfect refreshing lemon citrus dessert!

This recipe was originally published in our winter 2011 issue of Simply the Sweet Life magazine. It has become a favorite treat in our family and among friends and followers. I hope you enjoy it too!

Perfect Lemon Lime Bar Recipe

  • 2 cups of all purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

  • 1/4 tsp sea salt

  • 3/4 cup of butter

  • 4 eggs

  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

  • 3 tbs flour

  • zest of 1 large lemon

  • zest of 1 large lime

  • juice of 1 large lemon

  • juice of 1 large lime

  • 1/2 cup of heavy cream

    In a large mixing bowl combine cake flour, salt, and powdered sugar. With a pastry blender or fork mix in butter. Press into a 9 x 13-inch pan and bake for 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees until golden brown. While the crust is baking in a medium bowl lightly beat eggs then add sugar, lime and lemon juices, zest, and heavy cream and 3 tablespoons of flour. Whisk together. Pour over hot crust. bake for 15-20 at 350 degrees until the middle is set-up. Sift powdered sugar over the top. Makes about 24 bars.
