The first time I ate low carb was back when my kids were little. At that time all I knew about a low carb diet was that if I didn't eat carbs I would loose some weight. I was told I shouldn't stay on it for more than a week at a time and for the most part I just ate cheese, veggies and dip. I lost maybe 15 pouinds and quit because it seemed to hard and now that I know about the whole keto flu I know why!
Forward 10 years later... the next go round with low carb dieting. I clearly gained weight which I found out was due to my thyriod. I was diangosed with hypothriod after 6 years of gaining weight. I would eat low carb sometimes. It was an on and off thing. I managed to whittle off 20 pounds or so that time. At the time I would say can you image how fat I would get if I stopped exercising and lifting weights if I'm this fat just eating a normal amount.
Well guess what? I stopped walking and weight lifting because I started having terrible aches and pains in my joints from inflammatory arthritis and fibromyalgia. AND the weight gain got out of control!!
What I have come to realize is that KETO is more than just a low carb diet. It's a low carb moderate protien and high fat way of eating. It's a way of eating I can sustain for the rest of my life. I also have come to the conclusion that most of my family including my grandmother, uncles, aunt, cousins, brother and sisters, we do not handle carbs well. Many of us are overweight. Many of us are now eating a low carb keto diet and we are loosing the weight and feel great!
I am currently down just over 25 lbs with 110 more to go. I love all the foods I eat and can't belive this Dr. Pepper lovin lady (myself) is now a low carb lovin' lady who sips on La Croix and eats low carb sugar free desserts and eats bacon daily. Who knew I would feel so good!
Keto on my fat fueled friends!
